Pavement and stormwater management facilities are critical infrastructure meant to
serve society. Before they are constructed, the agency in charge ought to perform
various analyses to assess the suitability of the infrastructure in a given region or
site (
Rosenheim, Guidotti & Gardoni, 2017).
To conduct such analyses effectively, the
agency needs to gather various critical infrastructure data that includes but not
limited to the following:
Risk data
Every critical infrastructure is vulnerable to various risk factors that are associated
with human activities, wild animals or natural calamities. Before the agency
develops the facilities, an extensive analysis should be done to identify the potential
risk factors in the chosen site. Besides, having identified the risk factors, the data
will be useful in establishing various means of mitigating the risks. This exercise
aims to ensure the continuous functionality of the facilities once constructed and to
be prepared for the unforeseen uncertainties.
