Another form of depression ispsychotic depression, where the person has severe depression alongside some form of psychosis.The narrator, referred to as Jane Doe, in the short storyThe Yellow Wallpaper, begins withpostpartum depression, but she develops something extremely different at the end of the story.Jane develops schizophrenia along with a form of psychosis due to her surroundings and pre-existing depression.Jane Doe has developed a form of schizophrenia during her stay in the room with theyellow wallpaper. The National Institute of Mental Health characterizes schizophrenia as achronic disorder that affects how people think, feel, and behave. It is very common in youngpeople (ages 16-25) to develop this disorder. Schizophrenics seem to have a lost sense of reality,and by the end of her story, Jane has lost sight of what is real and what is in her head.
