My SME topic is one of the Corporate Level Strategy, BCG Matrix. BCG Matrix was developed in the early 1970s by Bruce Henderson of the Boston Consulting Group. It is also known as the Growth-share Matrix, Product Portfolio, and Boston Matrix. It was developed to help corporations to analyze their product line. It also helps determine what priorities should be given to the product portfolio of a business unit. It helps organizations figure out which area of their business deserves more resource and investment. The BCG matrix has 2 dimensions, the market growth and the market share. There are four categories that a product can be considered, star, cash cows, dogs or question marks. Market Share is the percentage of the unit sale per year to the total market that is being serviced. Market growth is used to judge how attractive the market is. Stars are the ones that have a
