Identify the liquid by boiling point, density and refractive index. The solid is found by melting point and mixed melting point III. Give a summary of your observations Solid unknown is number 363. Liquid unknown is number 577. Clean sample vial #1 = 8.626 grams. Mass of 1mL liquid unknown = 1.169 g/ml. Boiling point using instrument = 112.3 degrees Celsius. Refractive index was 1.4403 @ 23 degrees Celsius. During crystallization: weight of solid unknown is .802 grams; weight of clean sample vial #2 = 8.510 grams; weight of vial + crystals = 8.585 grams. % weight recovery = 99.75%. Melting point calculations: Range of melting point is 151 to 160 degrees; Melting point of impure unknown = 158.2 degrees Celsius; melting point of recrystallized sample = 157.8 degrees. Comparison: Solid unknown was found to be salicylic acid. Mixed melting point is
