THE VERY CRANKY BEAR 2 The Very Cranky Bear The very Cranky Bear is story developed to convey a strong message and particularly to the children regarding the way of living. The book narrates a story of Zebra, Moose, Lion, and Sheep who were trying to hide themselves from heavy rainfall and find a warm and secure place to have a play. They identify a cave, which seems nice and a good hideout for them, though they fail to check whether the cave had some inhabitants inside. In the shadows, emerged a very cranky bear. Back in the rain, the zebra, Moose and Lion thought they can solve the crankiness with some cunning behavior ( Bland, Cody & Goodison, 2009) . The cranky bear chased them away but they tried to sooth it with things that they had such as a golden mane and a pair of antlers. However, the Sheep was not sure about what was happening and waited outside the cave. When Bear emerges, looking completely silly and even crankier, Sheep has an idea, but will it work? Thoughtful enough, the Sheep clips off half her wool and stuffs it in a bag to make bear a pillow. Bear’s bad mood goes away. Now as Bear sleeps peacefully, the four friends can shelter in the cave.
