During your practicum, determine what clinical problem or issue the organization is facing. Discuss two implications for nursing. Nurses, like doctors, are directly related to the decrease in CAUTI in both long- term/short term rehabilitation facilities. Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are more significant in long-term care (LTC) settings (1.6-1.8 million of infections and 388,000 deaths annually. CAUTI are common, costly and potentially life-threatening in LTC residents. Some research estimates that about 50-70% of these episodes can be prevented (Vollman, 2014).
