The organization we chose to study for this project was the pharmacy department of the
Shoppers Drug Mart located at______________. Shoppers Drug Mart is a subsidiary of
Loblaws Inc., acquired on March 28, 2014.
This particular store was chosen because _________
is an employee here.
Because of this, ____________ was aware of certain new happenings in
department, and thought it would be interesting to study. Early into the project, it was realized
that the scope of this project had to be narrowed to only the pharmacy department because of
the number of employees within it. Our research question was, “How can Shopper’s Pharmacy
decrease work related stress levels in their employees?”
Based on this, the four OB concepts used for analysis were Job Satisfaction; Reward
Systems Including Money as a Motivator; Group Development, Group Structure, and Group
Cohesion; and Effectiveness of Organizational Communication. Analyzing the interview
responses through these points of view lead to the following conclusions: employees are
satisfied; rewards systems are adequate; the department is highly effective in team and
individual efforts; and that the upward communication is flawed.
Because the communication issues were most significant in creating stress in the
, our recommendations were given on that concept. The issues in
communication are furthering the cycle of unreasonable goals set by the corporate office.
