Whole Foods and Nothing but Whole Foods?
I. Introduction
Whole Foods Market (WFM) made Fortune magazine’s a very first list of the “100Best Companies to Work
for” in 1998 and is one of the organization to have made it every year. The company growth which means
more job, salary cap limits and generous health plan. The structure of the company’s current health care
program, which resolves around high deductibles and so-called Health Savings Account (HSA) proposed last
2003. Under this plan, an employee pays a deductible before his or her expenses covered. Meanwhile, the
employer funds a special account (an HSA) for each employee, who can spend the money to cover health-
related expenditures. The previous WFM plan had covered 100% of all expense and some employees
complained about the proposed change.
II. Issues underlying the problem
Rewards, benefits, compensation and recognition are just some of the many factors that motivates an
employee to do best in work. In case of WFM, whose reputation was built in providing good services in its
