I. Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to study motion in one direction and to find acceleration with three different methods. The angle of the air track was measured multiple times. Than, the time it took for the cart to travel 0.4 m, 0.6 m, 0.8 m, 1.0 m, and 1.2 m were measured. Three trials were performed. The flag on the cart was measured; the cart was allowed to travel the same distances, except the time it took for the flag to pass through the photogate was measured. Three trials were performed. Accelerations were calculated from the given equations, and the reference acceleration was 0.679 m/s 2 . The experimental accelerations for part I and part II were 0.614 m/s 2 and 0.458 m/s 2 respectively. The uncertainties were 0.00425 m/s 2 and 0.0196 m 2 /s 2 .
