FAMILY ANALYSIS PROJECTFamily Analysis ProjectIntroductionFamily is defined by our book as two or more persons who are joined together by bonds of sharing and emotional closeness and who identify themselves as being part of a family (Freidman, Bowden, & Jones, 2003, pg. 650). The family that I will be analyzing for this paper ismy wife’s best friends family. I will explain each person’s role within the family, this will include their social class, their ethnic background, their roles and relationships, their values, and how they communicate with each other. Description of the FamilyThis family is considered a nuclear family (composed of husband, wife and two children.) This family would be considered middle class. MC (father) is a garbage man. He makes decent money, but it is a physically demanding job. His highest level of education is a high school diploma. AC (mother) works part time. She currently works as a scheduler at a hair salon. AC dropped out of high school her junior year, and is now 35 and has yet to finish. She has found it difficult to find decent work due to lack of education, but she will not go back and finish. They have been married for 11 years and have two children JC age 12 (boy), and CC age 9 (girl). This family falls directly in line with Duvall’s fourth stage of family life cycle (Freidman, Bowden, & Jones, 2003, pg. 112). Stage IV consists of families with school age children where the oldest is between 6 to 13 years of age. JC has just started to become interestedin music, and is using this to branch out and socialize with peers more. This meets the family developmental task that is appropriate for this stage. FAMILY ANALYSIS PROJECTDue to MC being with the same company for years and being moved up with in his job, this family would be considered middle class. This family is Caucasian and consider themselves Christian in their belief system. The family does have a strong bond with their extended family, and do see both sides of the family frequently.
