Existing camerafootage was reviewed, a local authority on crime and homelessness was interviewed, additionalsecurity measures were researched and the wooded area surrounding the Sagemax building wasphysically investigated for evidence of criminal activity or individuals experiencinghomelessness.The findings from these research methods concluded that there are many individualsexperiencing homelessness in the Federal Way area and they are responsible for some criminalactivity although they cannot be directly connected to the car burglaries in the Sagemax parkinglot. The findings also concluded that there are suspicious individuals that frequent the Sagemax
parking lot and installing a Kogniz security system may be an appropriate security measure toidentify suspicious individuals and prevent future break-ins.IntroductionThe aim of the proposal is to report information gained from several research methods aboutpotential causes for the previous break-ins to employee’s cars in the Sagemax parking lot andrecommend a course of action to prevent future break-ins to the Sagemax administration. ThreeSageamax employee vehicles have been burglarized in the past two months including my own onMay 8th, 2019. Clearly the current security systems in place to deter this crime are not effectiveand improvements should be made to increase their effectiveness and better understand the whythere has been a recent increase in burglaries. Employee’s vehicles being damaged andburglarized while they are working is an unsafe work environment and efforts should be taken toresearch the sudden increase and potential solutions to reduce future burglaries.It is known that there are many homeless people in the area surrounding the Sagemax building.From 2016-2017 there was a 105% increase in Federal Way in criminal calls for in relation tohomelessness (City of Federal Way, 2018). Employees have previously found evidence ofhomeless people living in the wooden area on the east side of the building with many items takenfrom the outdoor Sagemax dumpster. It is reasonable to believe that these individuals may be acause for the recent increase in burglaries and therefore the Federal Way homelessness issue was
