Concepts of Organizational Change JCPenney, like several additional retailers began to struggle to compete against online competitors and recognized that they needed to do something to attract shoppers in order to increase its revenue. JCPenney’s CEO implemented a new organizational plan to completely revamp the store’s reputation to appeal to the shoppers of today. JCPenney’s concepts of organizational change can be best described using the teleological theory. The teleological theory can be summed up as change implemented expressly by the partners of the organization[ CITATION Gil10 \l 1033 ]. Teleological change is usually within one organization or group. It can be described as “break with the past.[ CITATION Gil10 \l 1033 ]”The teleological method typically begins with a goal.
