WHAT IS A GRAPH?
FINDING AN ORDERED PAIR FROM A LINEAR EQUATIONFind the ordered pair from y = 3x + 6Before finding an ordered pair there are some things to remember1)An ordered pair is written as such (-2,3) where the first number is always x and the second is always y. So (X,Y)2)The x value in and ordered pair is called the x-coordinate and the y value is called the y-coordinate
FINDING AN ORDERED PAIR FROM A LINEAR EQUATIONFind the ordered pair from y = 3x + 6To find and ordered pair the equation must be solved to find a value for x and a value for y.STEP 1: In the equation y = 3x + 6 set the value for y equal to 00 = 3x + 6STEP 2: Subtract 6 from both sides of the equation-6 = 3xSTEP 3: Divide both sides of the equation by 3- = xSTEP 4: We now have a value for xX = - = -2
