Week 8 Discussion Post According to our book, an outcome is a consequence or visible result (Schmidt & Brown, 2019). Outcome in nursing will measure states, behaviors, and perceptions on people or the community (Schmidt & Brown, 2019). The outcome research looks at the end results of healthcare, individuals, and provides scientific evidence for a decision made by everyone in healthcare. When looking at nursing research, the outcome is usually known as the dependent variable (Schmidt & Brown, 2019). After the data has been studied, conclusions will be made. The goal of measuring, reporting, and comparing outcomes in the medical field is to improve the patient experience of care, improve the health populations, reduce the cost of healthcare, and reduce clinician and staff burnout (Outcome Measurement in Nursing, 2017).
