Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector {DTLLS} Unit 2 Enabling Learning and Assessment 2.1 Look at some theories and principles of assessment and then explain how you apply them in relation to your own teaching practice and whether or not they can be seen to work. What role does assessment have in evaluation of teaching and learning? In what way can assessment help with quality processes? Make sure you use examples from your own teaching whenever possible. The choice of assessment methods should be associated with the overall aims and objectives of the session, which may require multiple assessment methods to review and assess learning outcomes. There are 3 types of assessments which include Initial; used as a pre-screening tool or to assess their functional skills before they start the session to ensure suitability; for example within my role we complete a Fast Track / Initial Literacy Assessment to ensure the learner will have the skills to complete the Journey Course comfortably.
