Uther Pendragon is King of Camelot. Excalibur is the sword that represents Camelot, and good. The Duke of Cornwall attempts a rebellion. He fails. They come up with a compromise, and celebrate the compromise at a feast in Cornwall’s home, Tintagel Castle. During the celebration, King Uther notices the Duke’s wife, grayne. He wants her. She isn’t interested. Uther appeals to Merlin the sorcerer for help with the “quest”. He doesn’t like performing evil magic for a good person. Merlin agrees, but wants payment. Shortly after (days), the Duke is lured from his castle because of trouble in his domain. It is a diversion. During the battle, he dies. While he is away, Uther, appearing to be the Duke, appears to grayne. Morgana, her daughter is confused by this, because she dreamt her father died. Grayne spends the night with the man, then learns her husband died that night. Grayne becomes pregnant. 9 months later, Grayne is in labor. Uther shows up to participate, and she realizes the deception. Merlin too shows up. A baby boy is born. Merlin wants payment for the magic. He takes the baby. Shortly after, Uther faces a battle he will lose. He doesn’t want Excalibur in the wrong hands. He asks Merlin for help. The sword is put into the stone, only to be released by one meant to be King, meant to be good. He dies. For 15 years Camelot is in turmoil. Evil knights pillage lands, terrorize commoners. A tournament is to occur (Jousting, sword fighting, etc). Sir Ector brings his son, Sir Kay, to fight in it. His other son Arthur serves as their squire.

In preparing Sir Kay, Arthur forgets Kay’s sword. Runs back to the tent to secure it. Can’t find it. Sees the sword in the stone, and attempts to pull it and succeeds. Merlin arrives, and claims this shows that Arthur is the true King of Camelot. Sir Ector concedes that Arthur wasn’t actually his son. Merlin brought the boy to him to raise as his own (an effort to keep Arthur pure).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
