THE GREAT SIOUX WAR 2 The Great Sioux War was fought by the Sioux Nation to resist the reservation policies that were implemented by the Federal. Indeed it was a great war due to the fact that it included several significant events and battles like the Grattan Massacre of 1854, the Battle of Rosebud Creek of 1876, the battle of Little Big Horn of 1876, the Fetterman Massacre of 1886, and the Wounded Knee Massacre of 18890 (Anderson, 2016). This paper will analyze and discuss the Great Sioux War with regard to major chronological events. The Grattan Massacre of 1854 Historical records point out that this war was fought in August 1854. This war began immediately when news spread that a Mormon Wagon`s cow was stolen. The cow had been seen wandering into the Sioux Lakota Camp, of which the natives took advantage of this situation (Clodfelter, 2015). After that, Lieutenant John Grattan and his men stormed into this village to arrest the person guilty of the offence. Unfortunately, the man objected to this accusation, thereby, forcing Lieutenant Grattan to order an attack on this village, which consequently led to the killing of the Chief, and conquering Beer and other Natives. This act angered the village members, and consequently, the killed Lieutenant Grattan and his men in retaliation. To counter
