In the ballroom Romeo says, “Like a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear”(1.5.33). The fact that Romeo compares Juliet's beauty to a jewel shows that Romeo is attracted to Juliet without even knowing her. In addition, Romeo saw her and started comparing Juliet’s beauty but he didn’t know her yet. In the ballroom scene Romeo says “See now she leans her cheek upon her hand! O,that Iwere a glove upon that hand that I might touch that cheek”(2.2.46). Romeo wants to be a glove to touch her cheeks. This shows that he wants to physically touch her without knowing how she feels. Romeo talks about her cheeks and he doesn’t talk about her personality yet. In conclusion, Romeo does not love Juliet’s heart but he loves her beauty.Aside from Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence is most responsible for their death
