This procedure is performed by a team of surgeons and it can be either a living or deceased donor. The first organ transplant was recorded on the history of science in the late 19th century. “In 1869, a Swiss surgeon Jacques-Louis Reverdin performed the first skin transplant. His work covered the way for the first successful skin implant, which was performed in Denmark in 1870” ("How It All Started," 2017). Once the first transplant has a success scientist decided to keep working into saving lives by an organ transplant. Improving the performance as well as getting progress into having a successful transplant, the scientist decided to continue performing more transplants to improve the life of an unhealthy patient.
