Danielle Groman SOC-220 May 24, 2019 Mary Carlisle Social Problems within Education Education is something that almost every human being is required by law to have. Unfortunately some third world countries do not have resources accessible to provide their citizens with a proper education; therefor a lot of people are uneducated. Some other social problems that affect societies education system is racism, the economy, drug and alcohol usage and or abuse, as well as unplanned pregnancy in teenagers as well as adults (Seattle Pi). Substance use and abuse like drugs and alcohol is something that affects 39% of American students according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Seattle Pi). The study that was taken in 2011 reported back with teens drinking alcohol within the last 30 days, and 22% of students participated in binge drinking. Looking at this social problem on a micro level, the students that participate in drinking alcohol and drug usage often have problems in school like lower grades, memory issues and high absences from classes.
