Danielle GromanSOC-2205/5/19Mary CarlisleSocial Inequality WorksheetSocial inequality is “the existence of unequal favorable circumstances for different social ranks within society” (Introduction to Social Problems, Tenth Edition, by Thomas J. Sullivan). Social inequality plays a role in drug abuse on a micro and macro level. On a micro level individuals who are battling drug addiction may not have access to rehab centers or the same resources to help with their addiction compared to others higher up in society. On a macro level rehab centers and other medical centers to help with addiction may not allow an individual with lower income, certain economic or social statuses get the help they need. As a result on the microand macro level the individuals that need help don’t receive it, therefor they will try to fight the addiction on their own or not try at all which will make them worse with their fight to recovery.
