In this article, Coston addresses factors fostering increased incidences of sexual violence among the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer + (LGBTQ+) individuals. The study adopted focus group discussions research design, where 38 queer and trans people of color based in the United States were interrogated. It revealed that the lack of structural support for the (LGBTQ+) sexual violence survivors limited their ability to overcome emergent challenges. Hence, the need for increased resources and the proactive involvement of (LGBTQ+) communities in the networking, education, anti-violence outreach, and resource sharing is necessary for raising the number of these survivors. The intended audience for this article comprises non-profit organizations, LGBTQ service providers, traditional intimate partner violence (IPV) service providers, and friends and family of the IPV survivors.
