I chose to talk about the Nipah Virus Infection because I had never heard of it before. The Nipah Virus is a zoonotic virus and is transmitted between people or through food that has been contaminated and consumed. This virus is found in Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh, and India, but causes a health concern because of infected pigs, and other animals such as fruit bats. In Malaysia and Singapore they believe most humans were infected by sick pigs, where in Bangladesh and India they thing the infection originated from the urine and saliva from infected fruit bats. Symptoms of the Nipah Virus can range from the infected person being asymptomatic to fatal encephalitis. Initial symptoms are similar to that of a cold or flu, but can progress and include altered
