Examples of Effect Sizes and Confidence Intervals in Research [WLO: 1] [CLOs: 1, 2, 4]Locate an example of a research study that uses effect sizes and confidence intervals in its analysis. Explain what these have allowed the researchers to accomplish and/or conclude in the study.Guided Response: Review the posts from your classmates, and respond to at least two. In each response, compare how effect sizes and confidence intervals were used in the research studies you and your classmate provided, noting the strengths and weaknesses of each.Lovegrove, Dowell, Geller, Goring, Rose, Weidle, and Budnitz (2019) used confidence intervals to help analyze the estimated number of emergency room visits for prescription opioid use separated by the intent of use and patient characteristics. The researchers calculated national estimates and the 95% confidence intervals using the SURVEYMEANS for sample weights. National estimates were calculated “by dividing the cumulative NEISS-CADES estimates for the2-year period from 2016 to 2017 by 2 (p. 785).”
