Mason SchrageIB LiteratureMr. VanoReflective statement for “The Stranger”In our Interactive oral discussion the class discussed many important aspects of the text including the absurdity of the Meursault, the dry narrative style, and other literary techniques. Meursault as a character is a very peculiar person and our class spent a good portion of our discussion focusing on how he almost feels no emotion. Within the story Meursault seems to notcare about anything or anyone and often will simply let very strange and unsettling things simplyhappen to him. My understanding of “The Stranger” was greatly enhanced by our discussion in class. Before I had missed many important details throughout the story that were clarified when we had our discussion. Talking about the book also allowed me to make more judgements and interpret the story in my own ways after hearing the thoughts of others as it gave more tangible evidence to back up the story.
