IntroductionCultural Intelligence is very important as it represents the way a person can communicateand interact with another culture both locally and globally. Many believers lack this intelligencebecause many churches are categorized by similar cultures. An example of this would beattending a predominately African American church because of cultural values or attending apredominately Hispanic church because their services are only in Spanish. It does not matterwhat scenario we use the body of Christ must become culturally aware. In UnderstandingIntercultural Communication by Stella Ting-Toomey and Leeva Chung, we learn that, “Tocommunicate adaptively with culturally different others, we must understand the major charac-teristics that make up the intercultural communication process.”1Cultural intelligence iscomposed of four capabilities. These capabilities consist of CQ Drive, CQ Knowledge, CQStrategy, and CQ Action. Drive represents the level of interest, persistence, and confidence onefeels when interacting with another culture. Knowledge describes one’s understanding of howcultures are similar and how they are different. Strategy reflects one’s awareness and ability toprepare for multicultural interactions. Action defines one’s ability to adapt when relating andworking in a multicultural context.The purpose of this paper is to identify my cultural intelligence and how I can apply thisto ministry and the fulfillment of the Great Commission.In taking the CQ assessment, I will usemy results to highlight my strengths according to the assessment and my areas of improvement.By the end of this paper, it is the author’s hope to have a formulated plan to address the areas of1Stella Ting-Toomey, Leeva Chung, Understanding Intercultural Communication, second ed. improvement that are needed to improve my culture intelligence and further the GreatCommission in other cultures.Personal Evaluation of CQ AssessmentCQ DriveWithin my CQ assessment I learned that I was very strong in two out of the fourcapabilities. My CQ Drive was an 82 which demonstrates my motivation to adapt and learnabout new cultural settings. This capability is composed of 3 components which include IntrinsicInterest, Extrinsic Interest, and Self Efficacy. Out of each of the components, I scored the highest
