Diabetes is a chronic disease that disturbs the body’s normal pattern to create or use insulin from the pancreas. The pancreas is combined of two glands that has two different responsibilities, however, is only one organ. The majority of the pancreas constitutes exocrine cells that develop enzymes to assist with food digestion (Hafez, Nelson, & Martin, 2017). The exocrine cells discharge their enzymes into the ducts (enormous tubes), which entitles form together to create the main pancreatic duct (Hafez, Nelson, & Martin, 2017). The responsibility of the exocrine fluid is to drain into the duodenum. The other part of the endocrine pancreas consists of small islands of cells called islets of Langerhans (Hafez, Nelson, & Martin, 2017). The islets of Langerhans discharge hormones (insulin and glucagon) into the bloodstream directly (Hafez, Nelson, & Martin, 2017). This is how a normal human being’s pancreas control glucose levels.
