Iron deficiency anemia is diagnosed as the blood has a declined number of red blood cells. However, if the red blood cells do not access enough hemoglobin a patient can be diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia. This is the most common anemia. The protein contributes to the red blood cells delivering oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. There are many reasons a patient is diagnosed with anemia (not limited to) such as, blood loss, lack of blood cell production or increase in blood cell destruction. A pregnant patient can develop low iron and folic acid levels due to the plasma increases faster than the number of red blood cells. Anemia is a familiar diagnosis. It exists in all ages and ethnic groups. Iron deficiency anemia is a diagnosis in which the body is depleted its stored iron, causing the body to make fewer healthy red blood cells.
