School of Engineering E112 – Engineering Design Worksheet for Problem 02: A Picture Paints A Thousand Words 1. Why are engineering drawings important? (Facilitator will do a short activity with the class to help the class to understand the importance) Share your reflections on this activity. Drawing is the language of engineers. So if I you want to communicate with others in this field, engineering drawing is a good tool for me to present what I want to say. 2. A simple way of representing engineering design drawings is by using orthographic projections. What are orthographic projections? Two-dimensional isometric or oblique views of a three-dimensional object on a drawing surface at right angles to the views and the lines of sight (projection). In these views the lines of the object parallel to the drawing surface are of true length and thus can be drawn to scale. Elevations, floor plans, and sections of a building are orthographic projections. 3. How many views are possible for orthographic projections? What are the standard combinations of views used in orthographic projections? 3 views are possibe for orthographic projections.A drawing can have any combination of views but the three most common views are: front view

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
