Obesity is one of the leading preventable causes of death that significantly affects teenagers in the United States. Public health professionals contend that obesity is an epidemic among youths due to poor diet and lifestyle choices (Stanford Children's Health, 2019). Health disparities in teenage obesity manifest depending on the community socioeconomic status with teens in the lower SES communities exhibiting higher rate of obesity than those belonging to higher SES communities (Balentine & Stoppler, 2019). In the community, there are significant resources that support reduction of adolescent obesity including physical activity community strategies, healthy food choices service suggestions, salad pubs in institutions, and early on care and education, amongst other applications. According to CDC, adolescent obesity can be described as serious health issue affecting roughly 13. your five million persons between the age range of six and nineteen years. It is estimated that 1 in 5 young people has obesity in the United States. Obesity prevalence is about 18. 9%, 19. 9%, and 10. 9% among teenagers in in the low, middle, and high income groups, respectively (CDC, 2019). Obesity is attributed to several causative factors such as individual behavioral and physiological characteristics that include genetics and physical activity. Some of the behavioral aspects associated with obesity contain physical lack of exercise, medications, meals choices, and also other exposures. Various other contributing elements include genes, unhealthy food deals, psychological elements (stress and emotional aspects), and the a higher level food intake along with physical activity. Besides, obesity can be described as complex health and wellbeing concern because of the connection with decreased quality of life, lesser mental health and wellbeing outcomes, and other health problems that are major causes of death (CDC, 2019). Social Media Campaign Strategy A community health nursing social media campaign strategy is integral to the prevention of obesity and promotion of appropriate behavioral methods such as physical activity and nutrition that can curb the prevalence of obesity among teenagers.
