INTRODUCTION Spain is a sovereign state and a member of the European Union located in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. Its mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land boundary with the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, to which Spain lays claim; to the north and north east by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the northwest and west by the Atlantic Ocean and Portugal. Because of its wide variety of climate, Spain has a greater variety of natural vegetation than any other European country. Vegetation is generally sparse. In the humid areas of the north there are deciduous trees. Pine, juniper, and other evergreens, particularly the ilex and cork oak, and drought-resistant shrubs predominate in the dry southern region. Much of the Meseta and of Andalucía has steppe vegetation. The Canaries support both Mediterranean and African flora. A small, yellow-tinged finch on the islands has given the name "canary" to a variety of yellow songbirds widely bred as house pets. The pressure of population limits animal life in Spain and few wild species remain. Spain's 14 National Parks are characterized by their variety, but above all, by their stunning ecological wealth. Nature is the absolute protagonist in these unique areas, some of which have the UNESCO World Heritage designation. The Spanish government effectively promotes participatory policies, environmental education programs and awareness raising campaigns to help citizens adopt environmentally responsible habits that foster environmental conservation. It is located in the heart of the Pyrenees Mountains, a landscape which consists of diverse elevation ranges of snowy, rocky peaks, flat rocky grounds, abundant fir and pine forests, clear river courses, and mirror-still 200 mountain lakes or estanys. Its spectacular scenery belongs to the nature regions called the valleys of Espot and Boi, and the overall park setting is characterized by the natural water features of lakes and rivers which enrich the Pyrenean landscape. It is a paradise for nature lovers: lakes, waterfalls, rugged

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
