Rivkah Cohen Professor Reichman English Writing I 1/8/2019 A picture is worth a thousand words, but a well-written piece is worth a thousand pictures. Chekhov writes in the most beautiful way describing the intense emotional buildup of having a dream and winning the lottery. While immersed in the story "The Lottery Ticket," one feels transported into the home of Ivan and his wife. Through the authors use of imagery, conflict, and dialogue, the reader feels as though they are a character in the play. Throughout the story, Chekhov paints his words into the scenery, props, and actors of the production. He captures the pale white color of Ivan’s wife and her dropping of the tablecloth at the moment she heard the news. Later, the author describes the pacing of Ivan, back and forth, from corner to corner, while he let his mind wander through the possibilities of winning seventy-five thousand dollars. In another instance, the reader becomes a part of Ivan’s dream as he lays in the garden under a lime tree.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
