1 Sequoia Perry Sociology 220 Section 4194 Summer 2019 Clark Kerr and the California Model of Higher Education Director Judson King hosted the sixth Clark Kerr lecture, and introduced who Clark Kerr was. He mentions Clark Kerr was the first chancellor of UC Berkeley, and then became president of the University of California. Director Judson also emphasizes how important higher education was to Mr. Kerr. Mr. Kerr led studies on higher education and spoke about it. Professor Simon explains that he saw Clark Kerr as an admirable man. He explains Mr. Kerr for his work. When asked about the structure of the agency and the dilemma, Mr. Kerr technique of contrasting pause of interpretations, and making synthetic judgements were somewhere in the middle. Mr. Kerr saw the world not as being absolute, but as in between. An example Professor Simon makes, is Mr. Kerr’s idea that the University was both private and a public institution. His notion of multiplicity allows a more inclusive experience of the University.
