Individual Differences II: Self Evaluation, Attitudes, and Emotions Emotional Intelligence: Ability to manage oneself and one’s relationship in mature and constructive today Self awareness: to recognize and identify your feelings Self management: to handle your feelings in a productive and appropriate manner Empathy: to be sensitive to and understand other people’s feelings Social skills: to interact with others in a positive and productive manner Interval vs. external locus of control: Internals: believe the are responsible for influencing events (confidence, take responsibility) Externals: outside influences are responsible for their fate Self Monitoring: High: match their behavior to the environment (EX: not showing your real self in front of a bunch of managers) Low: do not disguise behaviors, little regard for how others perceive them “what you see is what you get” Proactive Personality: take the initiative to change their circumstances
