Three Objectives of an Intake Interview 1. Identifying, Evaluating, and Exploring client’s chief complaint/problem (and associated therapy goals) 2. Obtaining data related to client’s interpersonal behavior and psychosocial history 3. Evaluating client’s current life situation and functioning. Client problems are intrinsically linked to goals. Reframing client problems into goals facilitates hope and initiates a positive goal-setting process. - Sometimes clients will want to talk about their problems and label them as such so goal- setting reframes is only ONE way to articulate the direction of therapy. Prioritizing and Selecting Client Problems and Goals - After first 5-15 min, make list of primary problems and goals – This 1 st summary signals transition from general nondirective listening to a more directive approach. - Client-free expression to a more structured interaction allows you to check for additional problems that may be important and begins the process of problem prioritization , selection, and goal setting.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
