Intro to Group Sports I Assignment 4.1 Football vs. Football Directions: Internationally the term “football” refers to what Americans call “soccer.” American football is much different than soccer. However, American football is somewhat similar to an Australian sport called “rugby.” A. Read this article about football, soccer, and rugby and write a brief summary below. Article Summary (6 points) Rugby is a mix of both soccer and football. It started a long time ago when a form of very violent soccer was played and was later illegal. Later on a legal version of soccer was made where players could only use their feet to touch the ball. Later on a player picked the ball up and ran down the field with it, this is against rules but the crowd loved it so much a new sport called rugby was made. B.
