Relationships and Attraction Relationships begin with attraction. This attraction could be that you find them physically attractive or it could be their personality. Either way, there is something that attracts the other person and that is where the relationship begins. Throughout this analysis on relationships, social psychological theories of attraction and online dating profiles will be discussed. The social exchange theory is the assumption that people are motivated to maximize their own feelings of satisfaction. For example, people will look for rewards in their interactions with others and will go to certain lengths just to receive that satisfaction from the reward (Gilovich, Keltner, Chen, Nisbett, 2016, p. 354). This goes to show that people are looking for a relationship that will benefit them and will satisfy them. This is our motivation that is found within our emotions that is impelling us to seek this satisfaction (Vaughan, 1936, p. 238). Through online dating profiles, this shows in Kiana’s because she is looking for someone who is intelligent so that they can have good conversation which is satisfying to her.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
