Name: 102MAE LAB: Friction in pipes Objective: to find effects of friction on water flowing along a pipe Theory E ƒ , energy loss due to friction in pipe, is related not only to the Reynolds number for the flow but also the “moody friction factor”. Using the two variables mentioned and the Moody diagram it is possible to find the relative roughness of the pipe. Method Apparatus Experiment Procedure Measure the height of water in the Perspex tube and the height of the water in the tank when there is no flow. By adjusting the valve, produce 5 different flows each having a duration of 30s. After each flow, measure the new height of the Perspex tube and the new height of the measuring tank. Tabulate the results in a table like shown.
