Introduction Brief overview This report analyses a 2D DU00-W-212 aerofoil, designed by Delft University, using the flow fluent fluid system in Ansys 16.1. CFD software, like Ansys, allow engineers to easily understand the impact of fluids on the performance of a part without building expensive and time-consuming prototypes (P.R.Spalart, 2016). Background to the study This study is based on the analysis of flow the DU00-W-212 aerofoil, designed by Delft University , at a Reynolds number of 15x10 6 . Firstly, the methodology of the CFD analysis would be discussed. This would include importing a geometry, creating a domain and preparing the aerofoil for the setup. Then a grid sensitivity study would be presented where factors that affect the analysis including runtime and accuracy would be considered in order to find an optimum mesh. Velocity and pressure contours, which would illustrate the respective distributions around the aerofoil, would be created and discussed in addition to lift-drag ratio at different angles of attack. Possible sources of errors and limitations would be discussed.
