The negotiation started off with the mayors and the farmersdiscussing what their needs were going into the negotiation. The mayors wanted monetarycompensation of $2 million from Mouse for the communities affected by their construction project. Theyalso wanted any monetary compensation the government could offer which created an impasse for allparties. An outcome was eventually reached through effective listening and the management of keyinformation.Conceptual Analysis and ApplicationThroughout the negotiation, as the interest of all parties were unraveled, conflict wascreated putting everyone involved at odds at the start of the negotiation. The interest on behalfof the government was to have a good press release and maintain a neutral position during thenegotiation.
