Should we have dropped the atomic bomb? After several warnings and numerous communications of a brand new weapon built by the United States government, the axis country of Japan had been well aware of just how serious the United States was on putting a final end to World War II. Although controversial, I personally believe that the atomic bomb was necessary at the time to fully put an end to the war. First off, it's no secret that Japan was made more than aware of the negotiations and consequences the United States had offered. One prime example were the leaflets that would fly above the Japanese public. A leaflet is essentially a plane used to drop and disperse papers with messages/announcements. American leaflets dropped notes saying things such as, “Evacuate your cities. We are in possession of the most destructive explosive ever devised by man. The United States is asking you to cease military resistance. Our President has outlines for you the thirteen consequences of an honorable surrender.” The United States kept no secrets when it came to making their message clear to the Japanese. President Harry Truman issued the Potsdam Declaration, telling them to surrender, or suffer grave destruction, but only for Japan to decline on July 29, 1945. The Japanese leaders declined these warnings and offers of peace,
