Crane 1 Celina Crane Triangular Theory of Love Sternberg’s triangular theory of love depicts the necessary components of love. There are three aspects that make up these components, which are intimacy, passion and commitment. The three of these create consummate love and each component varies in its meaning of love and means entirely different when combined with the other components. A successful relationship will incorporate all these aspects, as you cannot have one without the other. Some might be emphasized, however they should all be present in hopes for a lasting and healthy relationship. First of all, intimacy, passion and commitment each have an entirely different definition with different actions attached to each one. For example, intimacy is the closeness or connection you have with another person. “It includes such things as giving and receiving emotional support to and from your partner, being able to communicate with your partner
