Name: Caoimhe Cooney. Student Number: 17241936. Practical Title: Quantitative Examination of Equine Faeces For Strongyle Eggs Lab Partner: Melissa Dixon. Short Summary of Works Completed: Weigh out 3g of a faecal sample. 42ml of saturated sodium chloride should be measured in a cylinder by using a funnel. After measuring , transfer the solution into a beaker. Break up the faecal sample and add to the sodium chloride. Using para-film, completely cover the top of the beaker and mix well. Allow to settle for 5 minutes. By using a pipette, remove the upper transparent solution, and fill the McMaster counting chamber. Place the slide on the stage of the microscope and using the ocular X10 lens bring to focus and being counting. Count and record the number and type of eggs seen, counting each eggs as 100 eggs/g Results:
