In this paper the typical configurations of slots are st udied by putting group of narrow vertical slots on ground plane parallel to the patch radiating edge. The experimental results sh ow a good agreement with the simulated results. However , the size of the microstrip antenna is large in the UHF band and also their bandwidth IS small. Several slot-loaded techniques have been reported in the literature for obtaining the compact antennas 1 · 2 Also by putting slots on the ground plane, lowering of fundamental resonant frequency with increased bandwidth and gain can be achieved 3 . The slots increase the length of the surface current for the dominant mode, leading to a decrease in resonance frequenc/. In this paper, we present a typical configuration of a group of narrow slots on ground pl ane, parallel to the patch radiating edge. By varying the length of slots, variation in the resonant frequency, bandwidth and gain has been studied. The antennas are designed starting with seven slots on ground plane with variable slot lengths. These antennas have been simulated using the method of moment ba sed IE3D
