Chapter 6 - BIOS - Known as Input/Output Controller Hub (ICH) on Intel systems - Known as Fusion Controller Hub (FCH) on AMD systems - Current systems move the southbridge feature to the Platform Controller Hub (PCH), connected directly to the CPU - The chip extends the data bus to every device on the PC - The CPU uses the data bus to move data to and from all the devices of the PC - CPU uses the address bus to communicate with the chipset - To send or store data in memory - Tell the chipset which section of memory to access or use - External bus set - The chipset extends the address bus to all of the other devices Keyboard - Process - Every time you press a key on your keyboard, a scanning chip in the keyboard notes the key - The scanner sends a coded pattern of 1s and 0s, the scan code , to the keyboard controller -

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
