2 CASE STUDY Abstract The purpose of this paper is to present information on a specific client at my internship site. The information included will be on the client’s current situation, background, and treatment plan. The site discussed is a clinical setting in which hippotherapy (equine assisted therapy) is used as a tool in delivering occupational therapy to a pediatric population.

3 CASE STUDY Introduction The client of whom this study will discuss is a 21-year-old male with the diagnosis of cerebral palsy. He is non-verbal but communicates through a screen device that uses eye tracking. He is fully cognitive but is physically restricted by severe hypertonia. He came to Special Cheers, the interest site of concern, to help ease muscle contractions as well as improve balance and strength. Even though he is no longer considered pediatric, he is very lightweight and still suitable for continued therapy at the site. Background The client has been a patient of Special Cheers for the past seven years and continues to come to assist with muscle tone regulation. It has become a safe place for him in which he has progressed not only physically but mentally as well, gaining self-esteem and confidence. He has
