Running Head: Negotiation Strategies MODULE 1 SESSION LONG PROJECT The organization that will be discussed in this session long project is the Second Armored Brigade Combat Team (2ABCT). Negotiations do not have to be over large complicated issues. In fact we conduct negotiations on a daily basis. These negotiations can range from what work will be conducted by what person in a team or up to complex contract negotiations. In this session long project I will use the example of the negotiation process I take when requesting vacation time. PREPARATION Currently I work as a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) for the United States Army. The difficulty with this role is that there is only one of me in an entire Brigade (BDE) of 4000 people. As such vacation must be approved at several levels and a plan in place for coverage of my duty areas. The parties who must all sync up in order for me to take leave includes the division SARC team, the BDE XO, the BDE Command Sergeant Major (CSM), and the HHC Company commander. In preparation for leave I gather up all of the necessary information. This ranges from the dates I want to take leave, the duty phone roster, and any other information that may come up. In this stage there are no human behavioral factors to worry about. This step is about setting the stage for the negotiation portion of the process. One of the keys to remember is that employees are not always motivated by money. In this case my motivation is not financial gain it is instead motivated by a non-monetary benefit of vacation time off when I am able to take it rather than taking it when it is beneficial to the unit. As stated in the Hunnam article Managers must be careful to consider what’s best for their office and whether they’re prepared to extend non-monitrary perks. [ CITATION DHu16 \l 1033 ] In this case my challenge is convincing all of the parties involved that

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
