ADDRESSING ERGONOMIC ISSUES IN THE WORKPLACE 2 This assignment shows how much of an impact proper ergonomics provides to the workplace. There just so happens to be an ample amount of specialized knowledge found that can be used to prevent workplace issues with regards to ergonomics. Considering the responsibility of the ergonomics team amid the environment where the program should exist encompasses a team effort. In order for this to successfully occur it necessitates commitment of upper management as well as the participation from a scope of individuals which include safety and occupational health specialists in addition to other qualified personnel within the organization. A majority of employees are essentially experts at doing their jobs and can provide crucial understanding in terms of alleviating ergonomic hazards. In consideration of Amy who is employed at a big-box store as a cashier, has to work long shifts sometimes being asked to work a double which consists of several more hours standing up. Frequently Amy unknowingly has to lean forward to manage the products and it can often be necessary to lift heavy or bulky boxes from the larger than life shopping carts or move them around in order to identify a bar code to scan. Amy begins by telling us that she feels her workstation could use some improvement and that there are issues that need to be addressed.
