Closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance is vital in enhancing the security of a property such as a building. Installment and implementation of CCTV cameras aids in prevention, and detection of crimes such as burglary and vandalism. Monitoring through CCTV also improves the security of both people and properties, at a working premise. CCTVs are typically used to monitor premises such as entrances of buildings, lobbies, parking lots, IT rooms, and loading bays. Planning for monitoring and implementation of CCTV system requires one to consider various requirements such as lighting, among other significant factors. Based on this, CCTV implementation and monitoring requires a certain level of professionalism, to ensure the proper functioning of the system, without any problem. CCTV implementation depends on the lighting and indoor cameras, since advanced camera technology impacts on the quality of the video. Indoor settings enable users to get the best from their cameras because the indoor conditions offer the best support for the technology. When indoors lighting is consistent, it helps in improving the video quality; thus, cameras will need less light to see, than people. CCTV implementation, therefore, depends on lighting, in that cheaper cameras can be used and yet produce good results. Implementation of CCTVs also depends on outdoor elements such as weather conditions. It is more challenging to conduct outdoor surveillance, considering the various variables such as brightness, darkness, cloud coverage, uneven and shinning lighting.
