Centerville Crisis March 6, 2019 | Betsy Acosta It’s not news that the economy hasn’t been in the best conditions for the past year. Centerville individuals as well as business have been hurting economically for various reasons. The Centerville Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon at the Hotel Luxe revealed big and upsetting news that left our city in shock. Alex Weddell, CEO of Weddell Widgets, one of the city’s largest companies was the guest speaker for the monthly luncheon. Weddell started his speech by mentioning how the economy isn’t in the best times, as well as giving details about health care costs rising, credit crunching, and fuel prices going up dramatically. He furthers that discussion with stating, “a weakening economy both here and abroad, demands for American- made products has dropped substantially in the last year.
